Erietta Kiachidou is a PhD Candidate at the Department of Tourism Economics and Management of the University of the Aegean, focusing on Diving Tourism. Her research specifically examines the development of diving tourism in Greece as a sustainable development policy. The main topic of her thesis is the promotion of diving tourism as a form of alternative tourism and its contribution to sustainable coastal development in the light of the search for alternative models of tourism development, as a suitable way of producing innovative tourism products and institutions. Her research interests include sustainable tourism development, alternative forms of tourism with a special interest in marine and coastal tourism.
She holds a MSc degree in Tourism Business Administration from the Hellenic Open University with a grade of 9.18/10. Her Master’s thesis entitled “Diving Tourism in Chalkidiki” focused on the potential for the development of diving tourism in Chalkidiki, was graded 9.5/10 and the results of her research were presented in articles and conferences in Greece. She also holds a BSc degree from the Department of Business Administration of the Hellenic Open University with a grade of 8.35/10. She is a graduate of the Greek-French College De La Salle of Thessaloniki.
Professionally, she has worked from 1993 to 1998 in large organizations as a management, sales and accounting executive, including G.A. Klaoudatos S.A., Marks & Spencer-Marinopoulos S.A., ERGO Medical Supply S.A., etc. Since 1998 she has been working as an economist-accountant-tax consultant in an accounting firm. She is a member of the Economic Chamber of Greece.
